FALLER DAMM FALLER REGN

Det var oerhört svårt att hitta en titel till vår föreställning. Japanska är ett vackert språk, men inte många talar det här i Sverige. Shirabyoshi, som dansarna kallades – 白拍子- betyder vit rytm. De dansade till modern musik och till moderna sånger, imayô, som ingen vet hur de lät. Gagakustycket Etenraku ligger närmast musikaliskt. Men 1911 hittades åtminstone en del av sångtexterna, i en boklåda i Tokyo. Sångsamlingen, som kom ut 1179, heter Ryojin Hisho och tecknades ned av kejsaren Go-Shirakawa med hjälp av shirabyoshidansaren Otomae.
I slutet av bok 1 i del 1 finns en kort, men intressant beskrivning om hur sångsamlingen Ryojin Hisho fick sitt namn. Titeln härrör ur en gammal kinesisk legend om två mycket berömda sångare/sångerskor. Enligt sägnen rörde deras makalösa röster lyssnare till tårar och rösternas efterklang gjorde att dammet på takbjälkarna dansade. Ryojin= dammet på takbjälkarna. Dammet dansade i tre dagar innan det lugnade sig. Ryojin kom sedan att få betydelsen vackra röster. Berättelsen understryker musikens kraft att inte enbart röra människohjärtan utan även icke levande ting, Med dessa olika variationer som bakgrund kan man översätta Ryojin Hisho som ”Värdefullt urval av storartade sånger”.
Musik och dans som får dammet på takbjälkar dansa i tre dagar. De mest kraftfulla shirabyoshidansarna kunde också dansa fram regn. Detta gav dem en särskild position vid hovet. Först fick de dammet dansa, sedan fick de regnet falla. Efter att ha plågats svårt i tre månader utan att hittat en titel kan vi idag presentera titeln FALLER DAMM FALLER REGN.
FALLER DAMM FALLER REGN blir alltså namnet på vår föreställning på Tredje Våningen som får premiär den 4 april kl 19 2012.

Nu är det 32 dagar kvar tills Kumiko Nonaka san kommer till Göteborg. Då har hon med sig ett musikinstrument från vår vän, shintoprästen Terauchi san i Nunose Jinja. Den har varit med ett tag, damm har fallit på den. Minns ni min favoritsång från Ryojin Hisho? Hur vågar du skaka bjällran så illa?

It was extremely difficult to find a title for our performance. Japanese is a beautiful language, but not many people speak it here in Sweden. Shirabyoshi, as the dancers were called – 白 拍子 – means white rhythm. They danced to modern music and modern songs, imayô. No one knows how they sounded. The Gagakupiece Etenraku is the closest musically. But 1911, at least some of the lyrics were found, in an antiquarian bookshop in Tokyo. The song collection, which came out in 1179, is called Ryojin Hisho and was recorded by Emperor Go-Shirakawa with the help of his teacher and shirabyoshidancer Otomae. At the end of Book 1, Part 1 provides a brief but interesting description of how the song collection Ryojin Hisho got its name. The title derives from an ancient Chinese legend about two very famous singer singers. According to legend, their incredible voices moved the listeners to tears and the reverberation from their voices made the dust on the rafters dance. Ryojin = dust on the rafters. The dust danced for three days before it calmed down. Ryojin then came to get the meaning beautiful voices. The story emphasizes the power of music to not only touch the hearts of humans, but also non-living things. With such variations forming the background of the song collection you can translate Ryojin Hisho as ”Valuable selection of great songs.”Music and dance could make dust on the rafters dance for three days. The most powerful shirabyoshidancers could also dance to make the rain fall, this gave them a position among the nobles. First they made the dust dance, then they made the rain fall. After suffering hard for three months without finding a title, we can now present the title DUST FALLING RAIN FALLING .DUST FALLING RAIN FALLING is thus the name of our performance at ” the 3rd Floor” which will be premiered April 4th at 7 p.m., 2012.
